The Interior Ministry announced Sunday that a policeman was detained for mistakenly shooting a young girl when he was hunting out a suspect in Giza's district of Boulaq el Dakrour.
Media Center of the Interior Ministry said security bodies in Giza security directorate received reports on a fire shooting in Amer city in the vicinity of Boulaq el Dakrour police station.
A reliable source at the Interior Ministry said a quarrel took place between a tuk-tuk driver, a jobless man, who is facing charges in three cases, and a plumber, forcing the policeman to intervene to end the quarrel but he was attacked by the jobless man who attempted to flee the scene.
The policeman opened fire on the escapee to stop him and mistakenly shot a 12-year-old girl who was accidentally in the scene of the quarrel and was rushed to Al Qasr Al Aini Hospital.
All legal measures will be taken in the incident and the police launched a manhunt for the runaway suspect.
