Prosecutors in Cairo ordered the arrest of an underground metro driver after a train he was driving ran over a teenage girl at a central station, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.
The incident took place on Monday afternoon at the Dokki station.
Initial investigations showed that the 16-year-old girl lost her balance because of overcrowding and fell onto the tracks as she was preparing to board a train pulling in to the station. Her body was cut into four parts in the accident, Al-Ahram reported.
Prosecutors ordered surveillance cameras at the station be examined.
