Informed security services have told Arabstoday that an al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) member handed himself into authorities. Sources added that the AQIM member was carrying a Kalashnikov gun when he turned himself in to military forces in east Algeria. The area has recently witnessed a large number of al-Qaeda members surrendering to authorities.
