A 4.9-magnitude earthquake jolted off Hualien County, east Taiwan late on Monday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center. The epicenter was monitored at about 24.1 degrees north latitude and 122.4 degrees east longitude, according to China’s (Xinhua) News Agency. The focus of the quake was 8 kilometers deep, the center said in a statement. There were no reports of casualties caused by the quake.
