An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale jolted Turkish Izmir city on Monday morning, without any casualties or material damages reported. According to a statement issued by Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute of Bogazici University of Istanbul, the quake occurred at 8:34 this morning (local time). Turkey is located in a seismically active zone. The most powerful vibrations of the earth\'\'s crust in this country occurred in the Marmara Sea in 1999. The magnitude of the tremors was 7.4. About 18,000 people killed in the earthquake.
