An earthquake measuring 4.5 degree on the Richter scale hit on Monday the region of Batna, Eastern Algeria.
A statement by the Center for Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics Geophysics quoted the Algerian TV as saying the tremor was located 23 kilometers northwest of Merouana city.
Algerian civil defense confirmed that no casualties or damage were reported yet.
