An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale jolted 29km NNE of Hualian, Taiwan at 22:46:56 GMT on Saturday, the US Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.62 km, was initially determined to be at 24.1956 degrees north latitude and 121.7619 degrees east longitude.
