An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale jolted 16 km SSE of Asahi, Japan at 01:34:13 GMT on Saturday (09:34:13 Beijing Time), the U.S. Geological Survey said. The epicenter, with a depth of 35.0 km, was initially determined to be at 35.5786 degrees north latitude and 140.73 degrees east longitude.
