A 5.4 magnitude quake hit Bohol and Cebu in central Philippines anew on Monday morning, the strongest aftershock in the last four days recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). Phivolcs detected the 5.4 magnitude earthquake 37 kilometers northeast of Tagbilaran City with a depth of 10 kilometers, according to (Inquirer.net) website. It was the second strongest recorded aftershock of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that shook Bohol and other provinces on October 15, following the 5.5 magnitude tremor last Thursday. A Phivolcs report said the recent quake was felt at Intensity V in San Isidro, Bohol, Intensity IV in Metro Cebu and Intensity III in Tagbilaran, Bohol. As of Monday morning, 2,193 aftershocks were recorded with 46 felt in Bohol and other affected provinces, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said in its recent report. Phivolcs earlier said the aftershocks should not be a cause of panic for residents, saying that smaller-magnitude tremors are normal after a major earthquake.
