An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale jolted 90km WNW of Kandrian, Papua New Guinea at 02: 42:54 GMT on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The epicenter, with a depth of 88.82 km, was initially determined to be at 5.885 degrees south latitude and 148.7996 degrees east longitude. Meanwhile, according to Hong Kong Observatory earlier, a 6.2- magnitude quake hit New Britain region in the country at 0243 GMT.
