A 5.6 magnitude earthquake has shaken Southwest China’s Yunnan Province, damaging buildings and injuring at least 8 people. No deaths have been reported so far. The epicenter was in Yingjiang county’s Kayang town, at a depth of 12 kilometers. Power went down in the town and a local primary school was severely damaged. The local government initiated its emergency response mechanism and sent a working team to the area to assess the situation. The epicenter is located in a mountainous area and is thinly populated.
