An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale jolted eastern New Guinea region, Papua New Guinea at 13:26:12 GMT on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The epicenter, with a depth of 94.40 km, was initially determined to be at 5.2425 degrees south latitude and 145.5199 degrees east longitude.
