A 5.1-magnitude earthquake jolted southern Iran early Thursday local time, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The quake occurred at 4:57 a.m. local time (0157 GMT), with its epicenter at a depth of 39.60 km. So far, there has been no report of casualties or damage from the quake. Iran suffered two strong earthquakes in its northwest region on Aug. 11 this year, which killed more than 300 people and left over 3,000 people injured.
