An earthquake of 5.5 magnitude on the Richter scale struck on Monday Selumba in Bengkulu of the Indonesian Sumatera, causing people to panic and run out of their homes. The Indonesian Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency reported that the quake took place at 6.17 am and its epicentre was in the ocean 46 kilometres southeast of Selumba-Bengkulu. The quake did not cause any damage or injuries in the area and did not carry any tsunami threats.
