An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale jolted Kermadec Islands northeast of New Zealand Monday. Malaysian Meteorological Department said in a statement that the epicentre of the quake was located 929km northeast of North Shore, New Zealand, and 7,713km southeast of Semporna in Malaysian Sabah State. The quake did not trigger a tsunami, it added.
