An earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale jolted 206 km West-Northwest of Ile Hunter, New Caledonia at 06:36:38 GMT on Thursday, the US Geological Survey said. The epicenter, with a depth of 112.0 km, was initially determined to be at 21.5 degrees South latitude and 170.3 degrees East longitude, Xinhua reported.
