An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale jolted Southern Mid-Atlantic Ridge at 0453GMT on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 16.83 degrees south latitude and 14.1858 degrees west longitude.
