An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale jolted 68km southwest of Panguna, Papua New Guinea at 13:28:00 GMT on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey, monitored here, said. The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 6.7 degrees south latitude and 155.0 degrees east longitude.
