An earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale jolted 58km NNE of Visokoi Island, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands at 09:46:59 GMT on Sat (2016-05-28 17:46:59 Beijing Time), the US Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 72.68 km, was initially determined to be at 56.2033 degrees south latitude and 26.8926 degrees west longitude.
