An earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale jolted 81km southwest of Chirilagua, El Salvador at 0352 GMT on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 22.0 km, was initially determined to be at 12.5 degrees north latitude and 88.3 degrees west longitude.
