A 7.9-magnitude earthquake jolted Rat Islands at 4:53 a.m. Tuesday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
The epicenter, with a depth of 100 km, was initially determined to be at 51.8 degrees north latitude and 178.8 degrees east longitude.
