At least eight people have died as a 4.9-magnitude earthquake hit a remote Andean village near Cuzco, Peru, destroying homes late Saturday night, a Peruvian civil defense official said.
The quake was at a depth of 8 kilometers, Russia Today reported Sunday.
It destroyed a total 15 homes, leaving 75 people homeless. Emergency authorities are continuing to search for victims.
