A two-day business meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Japan, held at the Sedona Hotel here, concluded on Friday, bringing about closer relations and cooperation between ASEAN and Japan. The 37th ASEAN-Japan business meeting covered security and risk management, future cooperation in energy, human resources development and management sectors in Asia. The meeting focused on reviewing matters submitted and discussed by participants, holding a meeting of preparation committee for the 38th ASEAN-Japan business meeting in the Philippines, choosing Malaysia as a host country for the next meeting, establishment of more economic connections between the countries in the region and other countries, preparation for cooperation in the fight against recent global challenges such as environmental conservation, outbreak of pandemic and natural disaster pandemic and possible emergence of new members after the implementation of ASEAN economic community in 2015. Jointly opened by Dr. Khin Shwe, chairman of the 37th ASEAN- Japan Business Meeting, and Yasuchika Hasegawa, Chairman of Keizai Doyukai, the event was attended by top business community of Japan and some ASEAN member countries including Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam.
