A Dutch technology company will deliver a driverless automated vehicle system to Dubai that will link an upcoming lifestyle destination off the city's coast with the city’s metro.
The transport system, which is said to be the largest of its kind in the world, will transport 5,000 passengers every hour between Bluewaters Island and Dubai Metro.
A developer of sustainable mobility solutions, 2getthere announced on Wednesday the awarding of the contract
Carel van Helsdingen, CEO of 2getthere, said the automated vehicles will appeal to Dubai’s commuters and encourage the public to visit Bluewaters.

Bluewaters Island is a waterfront project located just off the coast of Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), across The Beach and near Dubai Marina.
The small island is currently being developed and will feature Ain Dubai, which is set to become the world’s largest and tallest observation wheel that will surpass the height of the High Roller in Las Vegas or New York Wheel in Staten Island.
The wheel can accommodate up to 1,400 people in 48 capsules and offer visitors great views of the city, including the Dubai Marina and several other landmarks - the Palm Jumeirah, Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab. At the bottom of the wheel will be an entertainment zone
