An earthquake measuring 5.4 magnitude struck off the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu on Monday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The quake struck about 83 kms (51.57 miles) southwest of the town of Isangel.
The temblor was initially reported to have been a much more powerful magnitude 6.3, but the USGS revised down its initial assessment.
There were no reports of damage or casualties, and no tsunami warning was issued.
