An overnight storm emerging from the Baltic severely hit Estonia's northern coast and islands from Sunday to early Monday, local media reported. The storm cut the power supply to 9,000 households and stranded 900 passengers in a ferry off Tallinn. The Viking XPRS was scheduled to dock in Tallinn on Sunday night but weather conditions forced the captain to halt docking procedures and drop anchor nearby. Harju county, or the grand capital area of Tallinn, suffered the bulk of the damage, with 4,000 households cut off from the power grid. Last month, 60,000 households were left without power when gusts just shy of 120 kmh hit the nation.
