Floods in Uganda

Floods caused by torrential rains have displaced more than 16,000 villagers in eastern Uganda, dpa quoted the United Nations Children's Fund as saying Friday.
"People have lost their homes and all crops have been destroyed" in Ntoroko district near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, UNICEF said in a statement.
The area situated on the floor of the western side of East Africa's Rift Valley is prone to flooding during the seasonal November rains.
Half of those displaced were children.
