The team charged with examining the water linkage project between the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States has held a meeting in Kuwait headed by Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Secretary-General of the GCC. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Electricity and Water and the heads of the competent authorities of electricity and water suppliers in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries along with a number of specialists and experts in the field. The Secretary-General stressed in his speech the keenness of their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the GCC countries to create a water link project between their countries, which comes within the framework of the GCC seeking to achieve integration in various fields. Al-Zayani said in a statement to the General-Secretariat of the Council of Cooperation that their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the GCC countries decided at the GCC summit held in Kuwait last December authorised a working group under the auspices of the Secretary-General for the study and review of the technical study prepared by an international company specialised in this field, and for the proposal of solutions appropriate to proceed with this important project. The meeting covered the findings of the study and reviewed many of the ideas and proposed solutions in order to reach an agreed formula for the implementation of the project.
