Heavy rainfall hit Nanning

Downpours battered south China on Saturday, damaging houses, disrupting traffic and killing at least four people.

In Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the rains have left at least four people dead and six missing, according to the civil affairs department of Guangxi.

The department estimated that about 170,000 people in 20 counties were severely affected by the downpours and rain-triggered floods.

Local governments have evacuated more than 5,700 people. The rain also toppled 155 houses, led to surging waters in 12 main rivers of Guangxi and blocked traffic in remote regions.

In Guangzhou airport, the transportation hub of south China, about 170 flights were canceled while dozens of flights were delayed.

Rain is expected to continuously hit Guangxi in the following days.
