China on Friday said an upcoming draft resolution by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is aimed at strengthening cooperation between Iran and the IAEA, adding that China supports efforts to settle the Iran nuclear issue via dialogues and cooperation. Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin made the remarks at a press briefing after being asked to comment on the draft resolution, which is expected to be discussed and passed at the international nuclear watchdog\'s board meeting in Vienna on Friday. The G5+1 group, which includes Germany and the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (China, the United States, Britain, France and Russia), have reached a consensus on the draft, Liu said. Liu reaffirmed that dialogues and cooperation are the only effective approaches for properly resolving the issue. \"The right way to lead a comprehensive, long-term and proper settlement is to have pragmatic dialogues between Iran and the G5+1, as well as to improve cooperation between Iran and IAEA,\" Liu said. \"The IAEA should maintain a just and objective standpoint in order to clarify relevant problems, while Iran needs to work with the IAEA more sincerely,\" Liu said. China will work with relevant parties to promote dialogues between the G5+1 and Iran and continue to participate constructively in efforts to seek a peaceful settlement, he said.
