China\'s earthquake network center has reported that a magnitude-6.1 earthquake has hit Taiwan\'s Pingtung County. There are no immediate reports of causalities. The initial jolt was felt at half past 10 am Beijing Time on Sunday. The quake was felt in Taipei as well as in Xiamen and Quanzhou in the mainland’s Fujian province. High speed rail services in South Taiwan were disrupted temporarily. The quake was followed by two tremors, measuring 4.0 and 4.2 on the Richter scale. Taiwan is among the most frequently earthquake-hit regions in the world. Over 24 hundred people died in a 7.6 magnitude quake on September 21st, 1999.
