An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale jolted Norwegian Sea on Thursday, APA reports quoting the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The temblor took place at 10:47 p.m. local time (2247 GMT) on Thursday, with a depth of 8.8 km. The epicenter was 601 km northwest of Tromso, Norway and 1,472 km northeast of Reykjavik, the capital city of Iceland, according to the USGS report. An initial report based on preliminary data said that the quake, of 6.5 magnitude, hit the adjacent Greenland Sea further north. No tsunami warning has been issued immediately after the quake.
