An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale jolted off the east coast of Honshu, Japan on Monday, the US Geological Survey said. The epicenter, with a depth of 35.50 km, was initially determined to be at 37.7825 degrees north latitude and 143.6534 degrees east longitude. There were no information about the damage caused by the earthquake.
