An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted Kaki city in the southern province of Bushehr in Iran on Monday morning, the Seismological center affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University reported. The quake was epicentered in an area located at 51.71 degrees longitude and 28.42 degrees latitude. There is no report on probable loss of life or damage caused by the quake. Iran sits astride several major faults in the earth’s crust, and is prone to frequent earthquakes, many of which have been devastating.
