An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale hit Mugla city southwest of Turkey on Sunday, without any reported human or property losses. The earthquake caused panic and fear among the local population, according to Istanbul's Bogazici University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute. Turkey has been affected by a number of earthquakes in recent years, the most severe of which occurred in northwest of the country in 1999 that resulted in the death of 18,000 people
