Rice husks caught fire in Abis area in eastern Alexandria on Sunday but no casualties were reported.

Civil defense teams rushed to a rice-cultivated land located under Abis bridge to contain the fire after citizens reported columns of heavy smoke rising from the bridge.

The fire scene was away from the main gas pipeline in Abis and it was immediately extinguished, said director of the civil defense forces in the area Fouad el Ghonemi.
