Sewa - Arab World
The Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, SEWA, has completed a project to replace the overhead power transmission lines that feed the areas of Al-Batayeh, Al-Zubair, Al-Bahawi, Al-Rahmaniyah, Hamdah and Al-Rashidiya with ground power cables exceeding a length of 70 km.
The project is in line with SEWA’s strategy to enhance the efficiency of power grids in the emirate of Sharjah. This translates the directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to deliver world-standard services to all the areas of Sharjah and ensure the safety of citizens and residents in the emirate.
Dr. Engineer Rashid Al Leem, Chairman of SEWA, commented that the project aims to achieve security and safety, and serves as a protection from negative climate changes such as humidity, wind, rain and high temperatures on overhead power cables.
He stressed that SEWA is keen to co-ordinate with various public and private bodies to ensure sustainable growth. This will be made possible through the development and implementation of a package of programmes and projects that target all segments of society. The aim is to achieve satisfaction with the services it provides in the fields of electricity, water and natural gas.
