A strong earthquake measuring 6.3 magnitude on the Richter scale struck near the coast of Pakistan early Wednesday. There were no immediate reports of damage or fatalities from the quake.

    The epicenter of the shallow tremor was around 90 km south of the town of Turbat, just off the coast at a depth of 10 km below the seabed, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

    The quake was centered between the Chinese-operated port of Gwadar and the city of Pasni, in Baluchistan province.

    Pakistan is in a seismically active area, with quakes often felt across the region. Two quakes days apart in Baluchistan in 2013 killed more than 1,200 people.
