Tokyo - QNA
Typhoon Wipha continues to close in on Japan and specifically the Kanto area where the largest Metropolitan area in the world resides. Typhoon Wipha at this time is already by most standards and strong and severe Typhoon. Yet the forecast through Tuesday morning is expected it to only grow strong with peak winds gusting up to 230kph according to JMA. JTWC the US military’s forecasting agency expects peak winds somewhere around 250-260kph. In recent storms though they have proven to be over aggressive in intensities though and I would lean more towards the JMA forecast at this time. Wipha is now the twelfth typhoon of 2013 and also the 26th named tropical cyclone of the year, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
