An earthquake in the Vanuatu Islands didn\'t pose a tsunami threat to Hawaii, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said Friday.
The magnitude-6.7 quake occurred at 9:10 p.m. Hawaii time Thursday, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported.
It was centered in the Pacific Ocean 129 miles southeast of Port Vila, Vanuatu\'s capital, at a depth of 19 miles, a report from the United States Geological Survey said.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said the quake may have generated a local tsunami but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from Vanuatu.
The island nation is 1,090 miles east of northern Australia.
