Cancer affects families all over the world, from all walks of life. Although everyone’s circumstances are different, everyone touched by cancer experiences many of the same emotions. In her new novel based on real-life experiences, “No Road Map” (published by AuthorHouse), author Marie Mellett weaves a story to comfort those coping with losing a loved one to cancer.
When Mellett’s husband was diagnosed with cancer, she knew the road ahead of them would not be an easy one, and the experience gave her the inspiration for the characters in “No Road Map.” Through fiction, the book records the author’s journey in heartbreaking detail, and she writes openly and honestly about the fear and uncertainty that a cancer diagnosis brings.
Ultimately, Mellett’s story is one of hope and recovery, and she reaches out to others in similar situations to show them that life can always be good, even when it seems impossible.
An excerpt from “No Road Map":
“As we walked down the road toward my old home, I got very emotional. Even Dad’s old faithful dog was nowhere to be seen. I sure missed my dad. I kept my feelings to myself so I wouldn’t upset other family members.”
