The 17th edition of the International book fair in Algiers opening Monday will be dedicated to celebrations on the 50th anniversary of the countrys independence. Hundreds of exhibitors from 40 countries will be present at the event to showcase hundreds of books published by some 750 editors, said organizers who expect one million visitors from Monday until the last day on September 29 at Safex, where the fair is located. This edition will be dedicated to the theme My book, my freedom as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the end of the independence war with several books dedicated to the historic event including its most painful aspects such as the torture of Algerian independence fighters. Another prominent theme at the fair will be emigration.
