Tehran - Arab Today
Member of parliament presiding board Hossein Sobhani-Nia said the upcoming visit to Tehran of the European Union Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton could help reach the goals of the interim agreement signed between Iran and the Group 5+1 in February 2013.
Speaking to IRNA, the MP said her visit would also "soften" the present situation.
The EU foreign policy chief is to arrive here on Saturday night (March 8) to discuss issues of mutual interests with senior Iranian officials.
This is the first visit to Iran by Ashton since 2008.
"Ms. Ashton's visit is of prime importance," regarding the Geneva deal and previous visits made by officials of the two sides, Sobhani-Nia said.
He believed that during her talks with the Iranian officials, Ashton would also become further familiar with the views of the Iranian side on the Geneva deal and this could help further clarify views of both sides for each other.
The MP noted that Iran certainly expected other parties in the nuclear talks to act sincerely and avoid playing any political games.
