A well connected friend won't be able to grant you a special favour. Be gracious when your request is denied. Throwing a tantrum will cause a rift in your relationship. Think back to a time when someone sought your company because of social connections. Nobody likes being used. Instead of looking for ways others can help you, focus on paying tribute to them in authentic ways. Take someone to lunch or buy somebody a thoughtful gift, just because you care.
