Lamborghini Aventador J Geneva - Arabstoday The Lamborghini Aventador J is an extreme roadster version of the Aventador coupe. Now normally when a company makes a roadster, they ditch the roof and maybe shave and inch or two off the windscreen. But for the Aventador J Lamborghini have removed the roof, windscreen and side windows. So all you get to protect your beautiful face is a couple of token wind deflectors which look about as much use as stringy cheese in a knife fight. In lieu of the comfort provided by proper glasswork, the driver has to console themselves with some fancy new carbon fiber body components, a massive fixed rear wing, and the knowledge that they really have won in the game of life. The styling is extreme, even for Lamborghini, but this isn’t the first time the company have experimented with a twin-cockpit layout. They tried it back in 2005 with the Gallardo-based Lamborghini Concept S. The blurring of lines between inside and outside is enhanced by the body-colored panel which separates the driver and passenger. The cockpit itself, and elements of the seats, are trimmed in a Lamborghini-patented materials called “Carbonskin”. Carbonskin is made of woven carbon fibers soaked with a special epoxy resin that stabilizes the fiber structure and keeps the material soft. Like the exterior of the car, the interior wasn’t designed with long-distance cruises in mind. There’s no climate control, no sat-nav and no audio system. The predictable result of unbolting every unnecessary extra is a reduction in overall weight, and while Lamborghini haven’t said exactly how much they’ve trimmed, glass is heavy, and the Aventador J doesn’t have any.Powering the Lamborghini Aventador J is the same 700 horsepower 6.5 litre V12 engine found in the coupe. It is connected to a semi-automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels through a permanent all-wheel-drive system. Top speed of the Lamborghini Aventador J is over 186 mph (300 km/h). But that’s actually 31 mph slower than the tin-top Aventador’s top speed. The lower terminal velocity of the roadster is due to a significant increase in the downforce at speed, and also a less aerodynamic profile due to the open cockpit. The Aventador J’s 0-60 mph times haven’t been released yet, but it should accomplish it in fractionally less time than the coupe – which does it in 2.9 seconds. The Lamborghini Aventador J will make its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show, and after the show it will be offered for sale. There will only be one, no prototypes and no others for the Lamborghini Museum will be built.
