Manama - Arab Today
The establishment of the King Hamad Global Centre for Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence was hailed.
“The milestone reflects the farsighted vision of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, advocate of peaceful co-existence and dialogue between religions and cultures”, said Capital Governor Shaikh Hesham bin Abdulrahman Al-Khalifa.
“The recently-established beacon epitomizes Bahrain’s pioneering role, millennia-old civilization and long-standing history of religious freedom, peaceful co-existence and tolerance, regardless of religious, intellectual or ethnic affiliations”, he added.
In a statement today, he said the King Hamad Global Centre for Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence symbolizes Bahrain’s civilized image, adding that the Kingdom has long guaranteed religious liberties without any constraints.
He said that Bahrain hosts 19 churches, with some dating back to 100 years, which, he said, reveals the Kingdom’s standing as a symbol of co-existence and dialogue between civilizations and cultures.
“The constitution of Bahrain stresses the importance of peaceful co-existence and respect for religious liberties without excluding anyone”, he said, adding that leading national personalities hailing from different religions held senior positions in the country.
He pointed out the Jewish and Christian communities have their representatives at the National Assembly and assumed diplomatic duties in the past.
