One man has the titles of family man, musician, business owner and expert marksman in author Richard Bancroft’s new novel, “Takin’ It Out: The Last Chorus of a Tune” (published by Archway Publishing).
Cy and Rane McCormick are on vacation when an unfortunate encounter leads to their cabin being attacked by a group of thugs. Cy desperately calls his friend, John Skinner, a renowned saxophone player who also is a former expert marksman. John races to the cabin, weapon in hand. John wounds the three thugs, causing them to flee. Afterward, John confesses to Cy that he is involved in several covert CIA missions. “Takin’ It Out” tells of John’s mission to overcome injustice and protect his friends, family, and country from hostile forces.
“The story includes intriguing action, real-life characters, examples of patriotism and true loyalty to family and friends,” Bancroft says.
An excerpt from “Takin’ It Out”:
“‘Mr. Michaels told me about this guy who was the finest shot he’d ever seen. That person was a natural combat warrior who could out think and outfight most military men. His exact words I have never forgotten: “the man doesn’t act tough … he just is tough, and to follow him into battle would be a pleasure.” Now I know who he was talking about. Let’s drink to John … our old man!’”
