Egyptian Minister of Culture Mohammad Saber Arab said the Mauritanian president is backing the Egyptian stance and Cairo's efforts to restore its leading role in Africa. In statements to MENA, Arab said he had talks with Mauritanian President Mohammad Ould Abdel Aziz, whose country assumed the rotating presidency of the African Union. During the meeting, the Mauritanian president asserted his full backing to the Egyptian will and said that he has been following up the three phases of the democratic transition in Egypt, the first of which was the approval of Egypt's new charter, added Arab. Arab also spoke of the steps made by the Egyptian government in all domains and carried greetings of Egyptian President Adly Mansour to his Mauritanian counterpart. He also said that Mauritania will play an important role during its presidency of the African Union to help Egypt restore its African role. Arab also made it clear that Egypt will boost its relations with Mauritania in all fields and the Egyptian cultural center in Mauritania will give more training courses for the Mauritanian youths. The Egyptian cultural minister's visit to Mauritania, which wraps up on Tuesday, was made on the occasion of 50th anniversary of inaugurating the Egyptian cultural center in Nouakchott.
