Ashraf Ghani was declared Afghanistan's next president on Sunday after winning the June 14 election, officials said, ending months of disputes over allegations of massive fraud that tipped the country into a political crisis.
"The Independent Election Commission declares Dr Ashraf Ghani as the president, and thus announces the end of election process," commission chief Ahmad Yousaf Nuristani told reporters without giving the winning margin or any turnout figures.
