Interim Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thani on Monday slammed a meeting of Libya's outgoing interim assembly, the General National Congress, branding as "illegal" the session and its decisions.
"The meeting was illegal, its decisions are illegal and the only legislative body is parliament," which replaced the GNC earlier this month following elections on June 25, Thani said in a televised news conference from Tobruk in eastern Libya.
The Islamist-dominated GNC selected a pro-Islamist to form a new government, declaring Thani to have been sacked.
